This February!
Wednesday’s get Sweet at Sweet Elena’s. Do you have a breakfast, lunch or pie punch card? Stop by and grab one - they are free. For every 10 items you purchase on a punch card the 11th is free. If that is not Sweet enough, every Wednesday has become Sweet Wednesday’s! For every item you purchase on a Wednesday you get two punches on your card. Also, the 20th customer every Wednesday receives free breakfast or lunch – Elena’s choice.

Anniversary with a
Children's Art Contest
Elena Announced Two Winners
Ten children entered to win $100 and have their artwork used for Sweet Elena's postcards! All submissions including the winners are on display at Sweet Elena's through March 31, 2012. The artwork was juried by local artists.
•First Place is a collage of artwork from Gonzales Art Camp, Art Council of Monterey and the winner of $100
•Second Place is "The Cake Garden" by Quetzalli Rodriguez from CPY
These two pieces of artwork are being made into individual postcards. The entire proceeds from sales during March 1 - 31 will benefit Hamilton House, an emergency shelter for displaced and battered women, and Community Human Services Elm House for Women, a transitional supportive housing program for women in recovery from substance abuse. Services include counseling, case management, life skills education, relapse prevention and health education and referrals.
Elm House, which is located in Seaside, is designed to provide residents with a safe and sober living environment and a variety of supportive services that promote self-sufficiency and recovery. Residents develop an individualized plan addressing their goals related to housing, employment, finances, maintenance of recovery, and a variety of “life skills.” The program provides case management and direct services to the residents, as well as links them with community resources.
Postcards will sell for $1.00 each.

Sip, Swirl, Savor and Learn During Holman Ranch Tasting Room’s
“In Your Own Backyard” Series
by the culinary bounty of the Central Coast of California, Holman Ranch Tasting Room, located at 19 E. Carmel Valley Road in Carmel Valley Village, has invited local culinary chefs and artisans to demonstrate how wine can be best complemented with fresh culinary products found throughout the Central Coast. The second call will be held at the Holman Ranch Tasting Room. Guests will enjoy a live cooking demo on paella while guests enjoy Holman Ranch Wines.

Holman Ranch Tasting Room’s “In Your Own Backyard” series will have chefs and artisans sharing their tips and techniques for finding the perfect, fresh ingredients for preparing truly memorable meals, side dishes as well as understanding flavor pairings. From paella to olive oil tastings, the series will showcase local experts knowledgeable about tips and tricks on everything from how to select the best olive oil to creating savory pastries with ingredients from the local Farmers Market. Each demonstration will offer recommendations for the best wine to pair with the featured culinary item.
